Calvin Dermont
Battle
May 9, 1971 — Oct 24, 2025
Key West
The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.~Psalm 34:18
On May 9, 1971, Calvin Dermot Battle of Homestead, Florida was born to Essie and Calvin Battle, both preceded him in death. Calvin was educated in the Miami-Dade County Public School System attending Laura C. Saunders Elementary (formally A.L. Lewis), Campbell Drive Middle School, and graduating from Homestead Senior High School, class of 1989.
Calvin was known for his big heart, easy smile and his love for the water. Fishing wasn't just a hobby for him, it was his peace and joy. He found calm in life's simple moments.
Calvin was a caring friend and a man who always found time to lend a helping hand. His wisdom and quiet strength will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.
On Friday night, October 24, 2025, God called our beloved brother home to receive eternal rest. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Keith Benton; and uncle, Nathaniel Benton. Calvin is survived by his beloved wife, Deshawn Battle; children, Jabaris, Kelly, Devin and Davon; siblings, Tawana Battle, Terrell Battle (Shawana) and Sharnell Battle; aunts, Barbara Benton-Johnson, Annie Edwards and Betty Simmons; uncles, James Benton Jr. (Sandra), James Wilson, Jerome Eppinger, Tony Benton and Robert Benton; nieces, Kia Benton, Aniyah Seymour, Carneria Seymour and Jahlani Mays; nephews, Demetrius, Terrell Battle Jr., Aden Battle and Rocko Mays; and a host of cousins relatives and friends.
