Darlene Grimes was born on September 14, 1958 to the parentage of Wiste Thomas and John Henry Curry, both preceded her in death. Darlene was educated in Miami-Dade County Public School System attending Frank C. Martin K-8, Richmond Heights Middle and graduating from Miami Killian Senior High School. She was employed at Baptist Hospital of Miami for many years until she retired.
Darlene was married to Dowell Grimes, who also preceded her in death. Darlene was called home to eternal rest on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lenoria Newton; brothers, George Thomas, Lonnie Fletcher and Cecil Curry; and best friend,Daisy Davis.
Darlene leaves sweet memories with her children, Doyle Grimes Jr., Katrina Zeigler (Octavius) and Christle Grimes; grandchildren, Akeemia Clements, Shana Wilson, Doyle Grimes III, Isaiah Clements Jr., Ju'wan Horn, Isaisha Curry, Serenity Grimes, Dazaria Grimes, Dylan Grimes, Daylan Grimes, Dayla Grimes, Kalum Thompson, Rashod Pittman and Matthew Moulton; great grandchild, Sommer Durham; sisters, Karen Curry and Rosana Thomas; brothers, John Curry and Richard Curry; favorite niece, Tangela Curry; favorite cousins, Esther Brown and Van Brown; best friends, Rochelle Love, Clarise Skinner,Renee Johnson and Diane Pruitt; godchildren, Sharonda Cunningham, Alika Watts, Cametris Evans and Keith Brown; and bonus daughter, Shuanta Wilson.
