Douglas Lyle
Freeman
Aug 13, 1975 — May 11, 2025
Hollywood
Douglas Lyle Freeman, affectionally known as "Doug" was born on August 13, 1975, Doug was a beacon of light and laughter to everyone who knew him. Raised in Goulds, Florida, he grew up in a home grounded in faith and love. From a young age, he played drums at "The Holy House of Prayer" . Doug accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, always believing that with God, all things are possible.
Doug attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools and graduated with pride before enlisting in the United States military in 1994, dedicating himself to serving his country. He later found his passion in barbering, becoming well-known and loved for his time cutting hair at several shops, especially the "Green Room." His humor, warm smile, and genuine love for people made each haircut more than just a service-it was an experience.
Beyond the barbershop, Doug also worked security at local events and, in recent years, found excitement in a new journey-driving semi-trucks across the country. He loved sharing stories about the places he visited and the people he met along the way.
Though he was the youngest among his siblings, Doug had an old soul and wisdom that often surprised many. He had a gift for laughter and joy, always ready with a joke or a warm-hearted story. To know him was to love him.
"Doug" light will never dim in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. He brought joy, laughter, and unwavering love into this world-and his memory will continue to inspire all of us.
He was preceded in death by his Father George Whitfield, his Mother Jewel Freeman, his brother Ricky Maines, Grandmothers Carrie Belle Freeman and Annie B. Curtis, and Grandfather Maurice Whitfield
