On November 5, 1948 Sarah Gladys Thompson was born in Pinehurst, Georgia, the 4th child born to Maria Lester and Sammy Lee, both preceded her in death. She was affectionately known as "Snook" to her family and friends. In 1958, Sarah and her family moved to Goulds, Florida, where she educated in the Miami-Dade County Public School System graduating from Mays High School.
Sarah held many roles throughout her life, including Food Service Worker, Custodial Worker and Housekeeper, serving at places such as Perdue Medical Center, Burger King Corporate Headquarters and Metro-Dade Community Action Agency. She was a devoted wife toThomas Thompson, with whom together they raised four children. She remained active in her church and community, volunteering at Naranja Head Start and coaching cheerleading. Her compassion, dedication and warmth touched everyone she met.
Sarah, a beloved mother, wife and dedicated community member, was called home on July 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service and strength. Sarah leaves a legacy behind to mourn her daughter, Monique McCullor (Xzavier); sons, Bernard Price, Thomas Thompson III (Argentina) and Rashad Thompson (Nakia); uncle, Johnny B. Lester (Robbie); brothers, Howard Lester and Lijah Bemley; sister, Wanda Simmons; nine grandchildren, Thomas IV (Madison), Domonique (Jaden), Ky-mani, Darrell, Leah, Isis, Shiniah, Bernard Jr. and Jibril; five great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Alani, Kemberly, Olivia and Kamryn; daughter-in-law, Sheena; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sarah was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joe, Arthur, Elijah and James.
