Life s Reflections
"I'm leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid." John 14:27(NLT)
Yolanda Bethel Deosarran was born on September 9, 1954, in Miami, Florida, to Fred Bethel and Willie Pearl Mack Bethel, both preceded her in death. She was the youngest of six siblings with four preceding her in death: Edward Terry, Yvonne Howard, James Howard Jr. and Patricia Washington.
Yolanda grew up in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Homestead, Florida, where her family were amongst the founding members. Raised in Homestead, Yolanda attended and graduated from South Dade Senior High School. She later met the love of her life, Robert Deosarran, and the two were united in marriage in February 2002.
Yolanda served as paraprofessional for several Miami-Dade County schools. Beyond the classroom, she was known for her entrepreneurial spirit, infectious humor and vibrant personality. Yolanda was the life of the party wherever she went — whether she was dancing and singing to her favorite song, "Love Come Down" by Evelyn "Champagne" King, or sharing a special moment with her husband to their song, "Always and Forever" by Heatwave. Yolanda loved to travel, spend time at the beach and engage in lively conversations about politics. She also enjoyed connecting with loved ones over the phone, staying active on social media and keeping up with the latest trends alongside her grandchildren.
Her proudest accomplishment was witnessing her children and grandchildren thrive and succeed. Yolanda will be remembered for her boldness, her sense of humor, and her unwavering determination.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Robert Deosarran; her beloved children, Jamal Bethel (Valerie) and Lastrada Bess (Gerrick); her goddaughter, Azizi Dotson; her grandchildren, Amber Lowery, Lemmerick Hooker (Deionneisha), Martavious Crawley, Daren Jones, Santana Bethel, Mekhi Bethel and Aisha Bess; her sister, Shirley Howard Larry Campbell (Pleamon); four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Yolanda's laughter, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
